Match Federal records against State's Billions in Unclaimed $$

There are billions of dollars that were turned over to the 50 States by Banks, Employers, Insurance companies, Stock companies, etc. all belonging to millions of Americans who forgot they had this money. Match the Federal records (SSN's) of anyone receiving any Federal benefits (SSA, SSI, VA, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc.), against those of the 50 States holding this Unclaimed Property we could reunite people with billions... more »

Require 90 day review for 1st time Medicare/Medicaid Providers

Billions of dollars in fraud are committed by "Strip mall" and other clinics that are established, take in patients, then pad billing statements. Congress, thinking it was doing a good thing years ago, mandated providers be paid within 30 days. The law of unintended consequences meant that criminals set up shop, did millions and millions in false billings, and then ran off before they were investigated and arrested.... more »

Certified Nurse Practioners - Hire more in the Government

Certified Family Nurse Practitioners (CFNP), Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioners (CWHNP), and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) are an underutilized and highly skilled segment of the health care industry that should be used more in the federal government.

The American Medical Association and other special interest groups have a strong incentive not to legitimize this noble profession. Popular culture has lead... more »

Provide Medicaid/Medicare reimb. to Certified Nurse Practioners

Certified Nurse Practioners should be reimbursed by the federal government for providing medicaid/medicare services.

With a limited scope of practice, lower cost, far lower instances of mistakes, prevention-based care model, Certified Nurse Practioners (CNPs) should be reimbursed. This would lead to significant savings in an area that will only become more expensive as the population ages.

Certified Nurse Midwives,... more »

Replace Medicaid/Medicare Paper Cards w/Plastic

If ordered in large volumes to replace existing cards and new cards, the paper to plastic migration would only be separated by pennies due the the millions being ordered.

The next generation card would last longer, and your parents and/or grand parents would not have to laminate them!

Newer security features could be incorporated to prevent replication (which can be achieved quite easily with the current paper card),... more »

Use assets to cover liabilities.

The federal government is bankrupt. The assets of the federal government should be used to cover its liabilities. All federal land from land management agencies within the Department of Agriculture and Department of Interior should be turned over to the states to fund the Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid liabilities. Have the states form a committee that will use the land and the income it creates to fund reorganized... more »

Medicare/Medicad cost awareness leads to savings

I suggest sending a copy of the Medicare/Medicaid bill to each recipient, either monthly or per incident. The benefits are in three areas:

- greater support for the program because recipients would be aware of their benefits

- cost containment: recipients are more likely to manage costs, avoid unnecessary and costly procedures and react to overcharges and outright fraud if they are aware of the ongoing expenses

- fraud... more »

Require Medicare and Medicaid Providers to be Vaccinated for Flu

The Department of Defense (DoD) properly requires that all its health care providers be vaccinated against influenza. This not only greatly reduces risk of their being infected, but also prevents their inadvertently infecting those they care for and come in contact. Thus the DoD hospitals' staff herd immunity benefits the rest of the population. However, those providers who provide taxpayer-supported programs are not... more »

Make all Federal Government facilities non-tobacco campuses

Restaurants, bars, hospitals, school campuses, state offices, other business have gone NO SMOKING. Smoking causes: dependency, cancer, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bad breath, yellow fingers, wrinkles, is a major risk factor for heart problems/ stroke. More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.... more »

Transfer of Entitlement Programs to State Governments

The Federal Government needs to transfer responsibility of all entitlement programs over to state governments. Medicaid, welfare, Housing and Urban Development would be more efficiently and effectively run if it was operated and budgeted on the state level. State governments can better prioritize their regional needs. The Federal Government should involve itself to only in investigating fraud, waste and abuse by the... more »

Mitigate Health Insurance Fraud by Requiring Photo on ID Card

Widespread medical insurance fraud negatively impacts the price of medical insurance for both federal employers and employees, and taxpayers in general.

One of the most pervasive forms of fraud is identity fraud; either with or without the permission of the medical plan holder. Very few health care providers ask for photo ID prior to treatment. There are more or less no controls in place to police this, which creates... more »

I am a US Public Health Service Commissioned Officer who works for the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a pharmacist. When inmates come to federal prison, they have the same access to care and receive the same level of care regardless of their status or socio-economic background. Through a collaborative practice agreement with our clinical director, our pharmacists are able to run clinics, such as anticoagulation and diabetes... more »

Consolidate Medicaid, Welfare, Food Stamps Offices

Consolidate Medicaid, Food Stamps, TANF, etc offices into the Social Security Agency. Let the Federal Governemtn run the programs and keep the states out of it. Billions a year can be saved by getting rid of state and local offices and by using the federal agency already setup it can be more effeiocioient and more responsive.
