DOE now operates lawn sprinklers in full daylight--bad idea! increased temps lead to increased evaporation (less water into the ground), and possibly burning the plants (due to refraction of light on water drops on plants). Operate water sprinklers just before dawn---more of the water will soak in, and it won't encourage fungal growth (as watering after dark can). Potential savings in water use!

Save Water and Save a life!

RAIN BARRELS
I work at Hoover Dam so water is very important to me. There has been an ongoing drought over the past decade and the southwest is going to run out of water sooner than later. We should have rain barrels or cisterns to collect the rain when it comes so infrequently to be used to water the lawn at our regional offices. Even Hoover Dam should do its part at conserving water.
