AJS-3 workload

SSA has a program that routinely changes the date of entitlement for someone is on their first year of entitlement to SSA retirement benefits to the subsequent year. The computer program, called AJS-3, does so because, in almost every case, the worker receives a severance pay package or receives sick pay/vacation pay buy-out in the year they retire from their employer. We routinely spend an hour or two changing the record... more »

Adjust Border Patrol Agent Work Hours !!!

Instead of agents working 5 days a week for 10 hours per day, agents should work 4 days a week for 12 hours. That saves the government 2 hours a week per agent in the border patol. That is a savings of millions of dollars a month. Border Patrol agents will gladly sacrafice two hours of pay a week if that means they have an extra day to spend with their family and friends. Thank You

GOING GREEN

With our world today, our natural resources are diminishing, and we are trying to do what we can to reserve them.
Solar panels could be built, and save money spent on energy throughout time. Small solar panels can power small things throughout our facilities, if the government does not want to spend millions on huge solar panels. A great way to promote going green could be installing solar panels on the GEMS (Green Environmental... more »

Get rid of Congresses Personal Jets and Other things

Right now the biggest thing that comes to my mind is Nancy Pelosi and the multi million dollar jet she had the government pay to get her so she could fly nonstop from her home state to DC, with her, her crew, and 200 reporters. Seriously, why is the government paying to transport reporters? Everytime her aircraft flys in any direction it costs the taxpayers 60,000 dollars. Why not do away with all the private aircraft,... more »

Prevent Overpayments due to work

Currently, when someone receives Social Security Disability and goes back to work, they call to report it. We take basic information about the job and tell them to hang on to their paystubs until we request more detailed information. Because of the shortage of personnel, work reviews often do not happen for a couple of years. The person is overpaid large amounts of money. Often they are waived.

We should implement... more »

Training for long term unemployed or chronically unemployed

What do you do when you are unemployed? Wait around to get hired. Let us get these people out and shake off the dust. People need basic skills training and retraining. Think of it as group therapy on a massive scale. Get people to run office machines, teach how to be a fry cook. Show people how to stock shelves.

There are plenty of jobs out for which the unemployed are over quailified. Entry level, low wage jobs.... more »

Free child care

This is similar to another welfare to work suggestion, but slightly different. Establish free child care centers (daycare) on a first come first serve basis for anyone regardless of income. Some people pay as much as $200 per week for daycare in the summer months especially. Trained and supervised welfare recipients could man the daycare. Work for minimum wage for the number of hours it takes to equal their monthly... more »

Countries pay for their illegals.

In addition to fining those present in the United States contrary to law, we should start charging the countries of nationality for the detention, removal, and deportation of their citizens.

If these countries were doing more to improve the quality of life, that would hinder the influx of people who are "just trying to make a better life."

By the way anyone who comes to the U.S., for the purposes of living, working,... more »

Jobs

When this country began, we created programs and benefits to help populate, fill out, and explore this great country, e.g. the Homestead Act, and associated Homestead Acts.

In addition there are many laws protecting the labor, employment, and commerce of the U.S.

I believe unemployment in the U.S. has more to do with complacency, and reluctance to relocate, than it has to do with "jobs Americans don't want to do."... more »

Homeless Empowerment Centers

With the rise of unemployment and thousands of Americans living on the streets, I think the government could save costs by creating a program very similar to the CCC (Circa 1933-1944) that will use existing housing areas and create large centers whose sole purpose is to give homeless Americans of all ages a place to sleep, eat, learn and work. The centers will provide food, water, housing and medical care to help get... more »

Change standard workweek: Mon-Thu 9 hrs, Fri 4 hrs telecommute

This has many advantages:
- Saves fuel and oil
- Reduces carbon
- Improves environment
- Standardizes day everyone telecommutes so we can actually get things done the other 4 days
- Maximizes vacation use for long weekend, thus improving employee morale and benefits with no increases in costs to government
- Reduces liability and enforcement of telecommuting policy and abuse because only one day and 4 hours are spent... more »

Simply Work Incentives

Both SSI and Social Security disability work incentives are confusing and overly complicated. It is a frequent source of overpayment in both programs.

We currently have an interface with IRS that reports quarterly wages. We should automatically use connect this information to disability recipients. If someone has 3 quarters of SGA level work, suspend their payments and send them a notice that they need to begin reporting... more »
