Change thermostat settings - by just one degree (as a start)!

There is an easy and quick way for all Government agencies and organizations to reduce costs immediately! Let’s all move our thermostats up one degree in the summer and down one degree in the winter. I have worked in many Government buildings in my career where I have been cold in the summer and hot in the winter. Eliminate Spend Down

I have seen a lot of entries here calling for a stop to spending down at the end of the fiscal year. However, this is not just an end of year problem but a quarterly one as well. I work on the financial end of this organization and every quarter we are told to be near a certain amount spent or else. Government Waste-Landscaping

Landscaping, such as flower bed and shrub plantings, are expensive to plant and much more expensive to maintain in a sightly manner. I suggest the government stop wasting money on landscaping. If landscaping (installation and maintenance) was eliminated from government contracts, $$Million$$ would be saved. Areas such as the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court, National Monuments and Parks would be exempt. Included... more »
