Public visibility for Federal spending & recognition for saving.

The Federal Budget can be reduced significantly if we simply put a stop to the “end of year” spending spree that the Federal government is famous for. Each year Beltway bandits gear up to support the massive federal spending that occurs before September 30. It’s great for the local business economy, but costs the Federal taxpayer dearly for what is often unnecessary spending. Require all managers to spend throughout the... more »

Ethical and Humane Responsibility

I have been a TSO at St. Louis Lambert International airport since 9/2002. Instead of freezing the salaries of employees who make less than $50,000 per year, which makes an already impossible financial burden even worse, you should think about requiring the banks to whom you gave $700+ billion of our tax money pay back at least a portion of it. You might also try not nearly doubling the White House staff's salaries.... more »

More Contractor Responsibility post construction

Require Contractor's to be responsible for the entire lifespan (as intended) of a facility. This means if a structural flaw or something that is missed is not caught within the first year that they still are responsible to fix it. This would gaurantee better quality and actually extend the permanent lifespan past what is predicted. We utilize buildings that are 100s of years old, we should be able to utilize current... more »

UNIFORM ALLOWANCE AND RECYCLING

At the end of every year, your uniform allowance becomes use or lose. Minimize the allowance slightly and allow for rollover of unused moneys, and people would feel less compelled to spend it, and may even promote the saving of unused moneys. Also implement uniform recycling. I once tried to return a bunch of old uniforms, that no longer fit, or were unused because they weren't the right size. I was not looking for... more »

Reduction and Modernization

I propose that our govt move into a new era where paper decisionmaking is a thing of the past. Technology exists where secure signatures and sharing networks can bring our offices up to the year 2011. We can reduce the burden on our forests and recycling centers! We can reduce the time it takes to get a document from one decisionmaker to another by using software that allows all decisionmakers to view and sign document... more »

END OF YEAR SPENDING - ROLL OVER BUDGET

Similar to rollover budget and end of year spending. Every year with about 2-3 months left in the fiscal year, not just my Field Office, but I'm sure every agency within the U.S. Government spends the rest of their budget, out of fear of not getting the same amount or more money the following year, and I'm sure as a way to justify asking for more funding. Field Offices should be able to spend what they need to complete... more »

Unproductive employees occupying valuable positions.

There are too many employees in the federal government that are not getting the job done! A new people strategy needs to be implemented in the federal government to encourage hard work. What ever happened to 'working hard and doing your best, or else you'll be replaced'? Do we want to be a competitive country? Why do we continue to tolerate mediocrity? I propose the following strategy, with the goal of placing the... more »
