I work with Federal laws and regulations every day. I find that many are created solely to serve a social purpose. (For example, a set of federal laws require that the USDA give grants to universities to perform agricultural research, even though much of the research is redundant or unnecessary. Likewise, Federal agencies must give certain vendors preference in purchasing, even if they charge more than larger entities.)... more »

Government Printing Office

Stop Printing CFR's For Each Agency - Access Online

Each year we receive numerous printed copies of the Code of Federal Regulations while at the time the volume is printed, the material is already outdated. The Online E-CFR is the most update version of the Code of Federal Regulations. GPO should discontinue printing copies for Government Agencies. They should be accessing the publicaiton online.

Establish a quick and easy way to change obsolete policies/regs

I'm not sure how easy it would be to do this, but I've seen many cases where certain policies/regs become obsolete with time and actually end up creating inefficiencies as we still have to deal with them. In many cases, even though those following the policy realize it may be ridiculous, they don't pursue changing the reg or policy because that process takes too long and requires too much effort.

Get rid of Congresses Personal Jets and Other things

Right now the biggest thing that comes to my mind is Nancy Pelosi and the multi million dollar jet she had the government pay to get her so she could fly nonstop from her home state to DC, with her, her crew, and 200 reporters. Seriously, why is the government paying to transport reporters? Everytime her aircraft flys in any direction it costs the taxpayers 60,000 dollars. Eliminate National Guard Guidance Memo 16-01 requiring ISOPREP

The memorandum states, “All AGR, Traditional
Guard, ANG Technicians, DoD Civilians, and DoD
Contractors assigned to the ANG must complete an
ISOPREP prior to going on OCONUS leave,
deployment, or TDY. All others must complete an
ISOPREP within two years of the signing date of this
