Reform Insurance

Reform insurance, the common person spends hundreds of dollars every month on insurance, between life, vehicle, health, dental, ect. Most of the money spent on insurance is wasted because in the end you never would have spent that much if you didn’t have an accident. Insurance should have a cap, once you’ve paid the full value or if necessary twice the full value of the item insured the insurance company should no longer... more »

Cut costs on loans against insurance

Limit the amount of loans veterans can take out loans against their Disabled Servicemembers Veterans Insurance. Currently the system is bogged down by a very small percentage of the overall amount of veterans who have SDVI. By law the government cannot deny a veteran their money, yet, out of the over million who have it, a few hundred per year take small loans out every month in the area of less then $10 to $20. The process... more »

Unrecovered SGLI Insurance Debt for Reserve and Natl Guard

The current unrecovered debt for DOD SGLI payments to Reservists and Natl Guard members who drill for points (all services) is nearly $20 million. Annual postage costs are nearly $20,000. A number of Reserve and Natl Guard members from all services drill for points only (so their pay cannot be checked). Each service fronts money for these members to receive SGLI. DFAS sends out thousands of letters and other correspondence... more »

Blanket Cancellation Insurance

Purchase flight insurance and cancellation-fee waivers at the organization (or even Federal) level. An insurer would gladly underwrite such a policy, and employees could then purchase non-refundable tickets (a frequently offered suggestion) without fear. Right now, employees must take on personal risk while trying to save money for their agencies -- and, predictably, a substantial amount of opportunities for cost... more »

Systemwide address changes

When a veteran changes their address, have that update apply throughout the agency, or even all the government agencies, and not by separate office.. Veterans are not aware that when they call in to update the address that it only changes withing that office or division. This flaw adds to "lost" paperwork and a broken work flow, a huge cost in time and money, and adds to claims processing time. In addition to veterans... more »

Mitigate Health Insurance Fraud by Requiring Photo on ID Card

Widespread medical insurance fraud negatively impacts the price of medical insurance for both federal employers and employees, and taxpayers in general. One of the most pervasive forms of fraud is identity fraud; either with or without the permission of the medical plan holder. Very few health care providers ask for photo ID prior to treatment. There are more or less no controls in place to police this, which creates... more »

Federal Data Clearinghouse

Have one source of data that Fed employees can use to find out information about anyone. This could be available from our computer desktop. This source, could have various levels of security clearance, and have a system like "Clear" or "Lexis Nexis" where various information would be provided depending on the needs of the agency. This would save the agency a great deal of time, energy, efforts for verication and working... more »

Drastically Reduce Federal Life Insurance Rates!

A chance to save $650 million per year! The vast majority of active employees can obtain life insurance at far lower rates than what is available through FEGLI. The insurance industry has become much more competitive in recent years, yet working federal employees are not seeing savings. Group rates for a pool with an age distribution similar to the federal workforce should be approximately $150 per year per $100,000 of... more »

FEMA/NFIP Letters of Map Change-Delivery Options

FEMA engages in Floodplain Mapping for insurance rating. The Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) are based on hydraulic and hydrologic studies captured at the time of the data review. The FIRMS are only as good as the data used at the time of completion. Because of this we consider updates from local government and private land owners. Depending upon the science presented as consideration for an update, the outcome of the... more »

Changes to FEHB program

Instead of just having "self" and "family" change the pricing structure to "self", "self +1", "self + 2" and so on for each additional person added to a policy. Private employers have realized the inherent lack of fairness in pricing insurance policies as "self" and "family" only. Insureds without children (including insurable dependents) or with only one or two children are subsidizing those with multiple children/insurable... more »

Provide Medicaid/Medicare reimb. to Certified Nurse Practioners

Certified Nurse Practioners should be reimbursed by the federal government for providing medicaid/medicare services. With a limited scope of practice, lower cost, far lower instances of mistakes, prevention-based care model, Certified Nurse Practioners (CNPs) should be reimbursed. This would lead to significant savings in an area that will only become more expensive as the population ages. Certified Nurse Midwives,... more »
