Reward the top 10 best ideas for each agency/military facility

Last year, there was an award for the top idea, why not the top 20 or 50? Or why not reward the top 10 people of each agency/military facility? A certificate is sufficient to give the message to employees that their observations and saving measure suggestions are welcomed. At the very least, there ought to be a list of the top 20 ideas per agency/military facility that was integrated. If an idea is applicable to all federal... more »

Web Based Evaluation System

Develop & implement a web based Officer Evaluation Report (OER) application that will automate & centralize current workflow practices of the Coast Guard Personnel Service Center (CG PSC) and our customers. Current processes are not designed or intended to manage the workflow of 10,000 OERs processed each year. Decentralized processing presents the following challenges and pitfalls;

a. Significant human interaction is... more »

Government Transparency

There should be 1 Web Site that shows where all Federal Tax Money is spent every year.

Just like a business, the investors (taxpayers) deserve to know how their business (government) is performing.

The expenditures should be broken down as:
Medicare/Medicaid $XXXXXXXXXXXX
Social Security $XXXXXXXXXXX
Defense Spending $XXXXXXXXXXX
etc.

The Taxpayer could click on the above category and get specifics within that category.... more »

REDUCE THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT

Lets hire an productivity consultant agency to find the departments and parts of Government that are redundant or unproductive and eliminate all the parts that are not needed. If we actually do this it will cut the size of Government by probably 1/3 at least!!! It would save billions! (might hurt the unemployment statistics tho....) (But if they are not working productively then why should tax payers have to pay for it?!)... more »

Skill Database for Agencies

My idea is to create an Government skill and/or Project database for use for internal agencey projects.

What problem are you trying to solve?
At any given moment each agency has over a hundred individual internal projects going on. To get these completed in most cases offices solely use talent within their office. I propose that we create either a talent pool database that associates skills with each divisions employee... more »

Create Urgent Care Clinic in all Visn's

Creating an Urgent Care Clinic that is open 12 hrs daily, regardless of whether a veteran has a primary care Dr. or is unassigned a primary care Dr., would offer help in the the problems of sending pt's back and forth from the ER to the PACTS within each facilty in each VISN. Not every Visn has this option. Our hospital would benefit greatly in many ways including;less frustration for vets, fewer walk ins in the clinics,... more »

A simple idea: remind people to use revolving doors

Our agency's building has revolving doors, but they're slow (for some reason, they operate automatically), and impatient people frequently avoid them and use the conventional automatic doors that are next to the revolving ones. These conventional doors are primarily intended to be used by people with disabilities, but I've seen entire groups of ten, twelve, or more people head through one of the conventional doors en... more »

Infusion Centers allow for coordination of resources and efficient delivery of services while using a cost savings approach, saving approximately $1139.00 per day over having patients admitted for these same outpatient procedures. Patient and Employee satisfaction is higher, using less employee resources and time, also allowing the patient to return home the same day. When the focus of care is on quality and patient satisfaction,... more »

Online Taxpayer Accounts

The IRS should develop a website similar to loan or credit card agencies that allows taxpayers (individuals, businesses, payroll taxes, etc.) to create an account and login to see if and how much in taxes they still owe. These individual accounts should also include a breakdown showing returns that have been received or are still due, and what the taxes due are comprised of. For example, the year and type of Form or... more »

Decrease time it takes new hires to get fully operational

I've personally witness it taking several weeks to get a new hire fully operational and onboard. This means, it can be days (or weeks) for a new hire to get computer access, e-mail access, BlackBerry services, security badge. I'm not saying loosen up on security, I'm saying make this process more efficient. So much time is wasted trying to jump through hoops that productive time is wasted. All of these things can and... more »
