Countries pay for their illegals.

In addition to fining those present in the United States contrary to law, we should start charging the countries of nationality for the detention, removal, and deportation of their citizens. If these countries were doing more to improve the quality of life, that would hinder the influx of people who are "just trying to make a better life." By the way anyone who comes to the U.S., for the purposes of living, working,... more »

Jobs

When this country began, we created programs and benefits to help populate, fill out, and explore this great country, e.g. the Homestead Act, and associated Homestead Acts. In addition there are many laws protecting the labor, employment, and commerce of the U.S. I believe unemployment in the U.S. has more to do with complacency, and reluctance to relocate, than it has to do with "jobs Americans don't want to do."... more »

Secure the border...

Secure the border by vigorously enforcing current immigration laws and addressing the reasons why people illegally come to the U.S. (jobs and benefits). CBP is fighting a losing battle to “secure the border” as long as ICE is free to pursue enforcement activities other than immigration and customs enforcement (which happens to be their name). There should be no reason for ICE to investigate terrorist activities. Terrorist... more »

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services currently issues very expensive Certificates of Citizenship and Certificates of United States Naturalization. Cut GPO spending drastically.

If the GPO was required to print government documents only in the English language their budget would shrink to manageable levels. This is a hot button political question right now, but it's a win-win-win. 1.) GPO budget shrinks 2.) interpreters / translators get work 3.) New arrivals are compelled to learn the english language and better integrate into the United States.

Automate NCIC Background Checks for Immigrants

Electronically capture Name(s) and Date(s) of Birth found in USCIS applications so that NCIC background checks can be run automatically when they are due to expire. Perhaps this can be most easily accomplished from within the CLAIMS 4 Oracle Database being used as the primary production mechanism for Naturalization.

Make it easier to deport aliens

Everyday more paperwork is needed to remove aliens in order for "more robust reporting." 5 years ago it took 20 minutes, now it takes 3-4 hours to do the paperwork. Less paperwork = more production = more removals and less man hours. It's an easy calculation. We treat aliens with kid gloves, but US citizens don't get near the ammenities or rights. Do you want ICE to remove aliens or do you want us strangled with paperwork... more »

Allow court pleadings to be accepted digitally

Currently, ICE attorneys around the country must file documentary pleadings with the Board of Immigration Appeals. The pleadings are hand delivered through the use of a private mail delivery company. It would save the U.S. tax payers countless dollars if pleadings were allowed to be submitted digitally.
