In order to accomodate sound fiscal management with a true and measurable cost savings to the government and taxpayers, while respecting our workers, I suggest that as benefit to the government, employees should be able to donate 16 hours of annual leave per year to the government in lieu of an unpaid 40 hour furlough (should furloughs become neccessary).

Keep employees informed about shutdowns and defaults

The federal government has lost millions of dollars in unproductivity by not informing federal workers of what would happen during a shut down or a default. In the case of the shutdown, we were not given details until the day before the shutdown. SAVE Moral

fMoral is at an all time low in 2011. With the threat of cutbacks and potential layoffs, it is no wonder that the federal employee is wondering what the next step will be. At this point, Management (including) president needs to stop blaming the staff for the financial crisis, but to plan the mismanagement of the budget for each Agency.
