We receive a large amount of faxes from new and current FEMA applicants, and they are scanned in by hand which takes much time, effort, and energy. Why don't we use a service which allows all faxes to be scanned in automatically to individual files and they would be reviewed by individuals for accuaracy? fMoral is at an all time low in 2011. With the threat of cutbacks and potential layoffs, it is no wonder that the federal employee is wondering what the next step will be. At this point, Management (including) president needs to stop blaming the staff for the financial crisis, but to plan the mismanagement of the budget for each Agency.

Leave and Earning's Statements

Allow military members to access LES's via an archive system older than 11 months. Finance offices have to waste paper to print out old LES's requested by military member's due to audit's that get conducted on them by states or IRS. It turns into 3-5 pages per LES requested.

close Friday after Thanksgiving

Close all offices except essential personnel the day after Thanksgiving. Many people use this day and its a waste to operate with lights, energy, guards, etc... for a few people.

SAVE AWARD implemented and administered at the Department level

Each department would be responsible for implementing an electronic “suggestion box” for their employees.

 

If employees can see and submit ideas online at their department web site throughout the year it would result in two positive developments: employees would contribute their ideas more often, and management of that department would less likely dismiss the suggestions of their employees.

Similar to employees pooling their dollars to buy a lottery ticket, employees could unleash the potentiality and the dynamic energy of the brain power of a group to generate viable ideas to: improving the quality of output at lower costs, simplifying processes to reduce administrative burden, or improving the speed of government operations to improve efficiency.

Pay the winner of the SAVE Award contest a percentage of the savings that their idea generates in improving the quality of government output at lower costs or efficiency.
