Increase R&D and deployment of Unmanned Vehicles (airborne, aircraft, seacraft, landcraft, any terrain) and remote-controlled mechanisms so as to minimize human deployment and to decrease the number of human casualties. Decreasing the number of humans deployed will keep military family cohesion intact, improve military family happiness, and thereby increase military morale. On smaller, more "routine" Federally-declared disasters, the Equal Rights Specialist (EUSP) and ADR Advisor positions could be managed from their respective Headquarters' offices. These positions are often faced with little to do when deployed to a Joint Field Office (JFO). They receive per diem, pay, as well as lodging and rental car reimbursement when deployed. But when it's time to replace that unit in the field, another unit packs up all of their items and deploys to replace the first unit. I don't understand why we couldn't leave the essential equipment here in the area of responsibility and just ship people and planes. I'm sure this... more »

Far too many military members are sent on deployments with inadequate gear. Far too many people volunteer to be deployment managers and have NO experience with the equipment they order or even know how to use it. The programs need people who are familiar with current needs, know the good/bad of the gear and are ordering the best equipment at the lowest price. We have troops being sent overseas with old m16 magazines that... more »
