I continue to see on the news about how much is being cut, but I have not seen any changes. In order to make the TSP more attractive and competitive with “like” institutional investment entities (i.e. TIAA CREF, Vanguard) I believe several indexed fund options should be added. These options would provide the opportunity for a more balanced portfolio. Once in place, their management would not adversely impact TSP operating cost. The Bureau of Prisons has approximately 183 institutions with approximately 177,000 inmates. We move inmates throughout the Bureau and ship the inmate’s property utilizing United Parcel Service (UPS). Eliminate Official Travel Credit Cards for Individuals and use a Universal Office/Departmental Credit Cards for each office unit. The government is billed directly. Food should be charged to the hotel room because it is official business. Other incidentials such as taxis are paid as a flat rate by location. Provide IT departments tablet units, such as Cisco Cius, Apple IPAD, Samsung Galaxy or Blackberry Tablet units which may be used to load presentation and other meeting materials on to stop the use of handouts in meetings. Tablets with wireless capability not only eliminate the handout paper, but also the note taking papers which either clutter desks or fill recycling containers.
