Hello Sir. I read that the government is going to begin asking its employees to shut down their computers whenever they will be out of use after their work day is over. This is a great idea, except in the Air Force there are weekly security updates that shoot through their networks. Reduce PC costs with Netbooks and Cloud computing.

A huge portion of our budget is spent on purchasing computers. These costs can be reduced significantly.

Everyone in my office is issued a laptop that includes a DVD/CD-ROM and an 80 GB hard drive. DVD/CD-ROMs are rarely used, and the 80 GB capacity is much more than is necessary, especially since most of our files are available through shared drives.

Develop a script for all PC/Mac/Linux computers which do not need to be on 24/7, to do the following: Start the backup Script, log off the user, shut down the machine once the backup is complete. Provides 2 benefits - saving on electricity, and makes sure that all computers get a new start each day.
