Across the Board Budget Reductions

I think all Federal agencies could find a place to cut waste. Why do the cuts have to be to specific agencies or entitlements - lets ALL take the hit and show Congress we believe in America. Provide an incentive for silos to reach down and identify the waste we all know is there.

Unnecessary purchases

In order not to loose budget funds management purchases unnecessary REPLACEMENT furniture, faxes and posters. The old is then donated to non-profit organizations. If there was nothing wrong with the furniture and equipment that we have why replace? I understand the thinking of "we do not want to loose future budget income" but I do NOT understand the unnecessary purchases. There should be a closer updated system of... more »

Allow Yearly Budget Excess Funds To Be Saved & Reduce Budgets

It appears that most of us agree that at the end of the fiscal year a large amount of money is wasted in order to keep the previous years budget. My suggestion is to allow the excess funds to be saved and reduce the budgets by a small amount accross the board. Allowing the funds to be saved while reducing the budgets across the board will end wasteful spending year round.

Budget Roll Over..end "Spend it or Lose it" thought

A budget fluctuates with supply/demand, operations tempo, leadership/management, unit needs etc. Instead of being rewarded by effectively managing a budget. Units are punished by being forced... more »

Stop Government travel junkets under the guise of training.

Every year, thousands of dollars are wasted on travel for airfare, per diem, hotels, taxi fare, etc. for meetings, or training, consultation etc. The majority of the junkets are to resort areas. In this recession, we can not afford to send upper management officials to vacations under the guise of "training". Send the book or DVD. Do a free teleconference on Skype. If you need a vacation, use your own funds and leave,... more »

Incentivize Saving Money

Each year if we don't spend all of our alloted program dollars it goes back to the black hole. While I understand that this needs to be the case, we are then penalized with a cut to our program the following year. Based on the logic that since we did not need it last year we won't need it this year. This leads to employees frantic year end spending. Buying that extra GPS or survey equipment, etc. Programs and employee's... more »

Save money, less military moves

The military ,every year moves hundreds of thousands of members just for career advancement. The taxpayer not only foots the bill for the expensive move but also in the 2-3 months of lost productivity Cut these permanent change of station moves by 2/3. Raise the time on station limit to 6 years before someone can move to another base.

Alternating - Light Bulbs (Turn off every other bulb).

We may be using Fluorescent light bulbs, but we should continue to alternate bulb use like we did prior to using Fluorescent light bulbs. We should keep some lights bulbs Off while others light bulbs are On (alternating bulbs). Thus still providing enough lighting to do the job while conserving Electricity; Reducing lighting where necessary.
