BOP Eliminate SORT teams, beef up DCT

Eliminate the SORT in BOP. Beef up the DCT, which was our original go to group to start with. Our sort spends almost $1000 per man per year in new boots, BDU's, hats, personal use items and they spend it every year. Not to mention they buy extra for the captain, exec staff, and EPO's. BOP Make it easier to work with other agencies and depts.

There are 5 major government agencies located within 35 miles of our institution. BOP, Dept of agriculture, Forest Service (is that Dept of Ag too?), Park Service (or is it this one in dept of AG), and Social Security.
The paperwork to work with each agency is almost prohibitive, along with staff from each one not wanting to deal with it as well. Particularly when it comes to recycling.

BOP No more "special interest" gatherings on duty time.

How many "special" programs does the government have now based on race or sex issues. And what's worse, they are allowed to meet and have programs during duty hours, and the taxpayers are footing the bill. They should be having their meeting son THEIR time, after work or weekends, or charge them annual leave if it's during the day. BOP- buy in bulk, save thousands, and make contracting work

The BOP does NOT try to save money by buying in bulk, such as toilet paper, paper towels, copy paper, toner cartridges, food items, etc. THey allow each institution do their own thing, so they can protect the 4 contracting jobs each institution is authorized. A senior contracting spec (supervisor), a property officer, and 2 contracting specialists. The region or central office contracting should be buying these staple... more »
