REFORM CONGRESS

A lot of boys and girls grow up and want to serve their country. These children see their parents working hard, paying their bills, being honest, and respecting each other. When some of these children grow up, they decide that they want to run for political office. Some of these big children get elected to the Congress in Washington DC.

WHAT HAPPENS??? A lot of these big children forget the importance of paying their... more »

UNEMPLOYMENT = COMMUNITY SERVICE

If we are going to pay people who are unemployed, why don't we get some work out of them!? If nothing else, maybe there can be a minimum amount of community service required to collect these benifits! Just think of all the community projects that could be accomplished by all these millions of people! They would still have more than enough time to search for new jobs, and it might even incintivise some of the people that... more »

Stop making parts of programs that have nothing to do with it.

When the Obamacare package came up and I heard it was 2500 pages long, it made me wonder how long a bill can really be. So I started reading some of it, and quite frankly I was rather upset. Many many portions of the bill had nothing to do with healthcare, but rather it gave money to states for other things. So, really the US government needs to stop bassing bills with all those extras, and also needs to amend bills... more »

END BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP!!

This is an idea from the 1800s that anyone born on United States soil is automatically a citizen. Other countries do not do this! You have to be born of a citizen to be a citizen. I think ending this practice will basically solve one of the biggest immigration issues we have. The practice of illegal imigrant coming here to have children (aka anchor babies) so that they can stay in this country. Just something to think... more »

CONGRESS Should be in a Virtual environment; SAVE on commuting

A lot of tax dollars are spent on funding trips (lodging, private planes, cars, meals) for "the representatives of the people"; Congress. Instead of members of Congress going to Washington for three days a week, why not devise a system that will allow them to submit their arguments and vote from their local offices in their States. I know that tradition dictates that they should come together and have a "meeting of the... more »

Get rid of Congresses Personal Jets and Other things

Right now the biggest thing that comes to my mind is Nancy Pelosi and the multi million dollar jet she had the government pay to get her so she could fly nonstop from her home state to DC, with her, her crew, and 200 reporters. Seriously, why is the government paying to transport reporters? Everytime her aircraft flys in any direction it costs the taxpayers 60,000 dollars. Why not do away with all the private aircraft,... more »

C-SPAN Super HD

I would like a camera for each representative or senator. Where are they? what are they doing or saying? In the digital age, we can store insane amounts of video. Who needs transcripts when we can video and archive every hearing, testimony, and action packed second on Congress. We should no longer have to guess on intent of legislation. We can go right to the source.

Eliminate Congressional Pay for only one term of service

It costs taxpayers millions of dollars and directly contributes to the vast national debt and corruption of all political figures to allow them to vote for their own pay raises and to receive retirement after serving only two to four years in any office under the privilage as being a representative of the people along with having exclusive health care not afforded to any other citizen. Full retirement benefits should... more »

Congress, budget, debt ceiling, anonymous dialog via a SAVE like

Maybe by using a SAVE like process, Congress and the President can come to terms on a budget and work out the details of a debt ceiling negotiation in a timely manner. After all, there is advantage in not allowing anyone to have a dislike button. It forces dialog by making one write their own thoughts here and maybe start meaningful dialog. If you don't like it don't push the "like" button. But it gives you a space... more »

Eliminate Mandatory Use of Government Rates When Traveling

Traveling on the government's dime should not cost more than it does to make travel arrangements on your own. There are instances where the government rate at a hotel is more than a rate offered through other discount programs (like AAA or frequent user programs). There are also instances where booking travel through an airline directly is less expensive than using a contract carrier. Government employees (both Congressional... more »

Stop printing $1 bills until inventory of $1 coins goes down

This probably needs legislation to make work.

Stop printing the ones until the stock plie of dollar coins that the Federela REserve is storiing goes down, to the point the quantity is "normal" inventory. Then restart printing of the dollar bill if you must. Just stopping the presidential dolla coin program is not going to do anything for the coins in storage right now.

And I have often asked for dollar coins or... more »
