I have noticed that the mail at my office building is collected several times a day. The amount of outgoing mail is minimal. It would save money to have the mail collection reduced to once a day. The USPS should monitor the amounts of mail collected at business locations and adjust services accordingly.
Currently the USPS deliverys mail 6 days a week to my house. The vast majority of this mail is ads or "junk" mail. I don't need to recieve this every day and would suggest that they deliver M, W, and Saturdays instead. This would reduce the number of carriers by one half.
Ever since the post office installed mail pods in the neighborhood, I only stop and get the mail twice a week. I don't miss anything so why not just cut back at least one day on mail delivery.
Not the mention, the receipt really doesn't serve much of a purpose. It's not like it substitutes for the other receipts you get (e.g.... more »
that does more than deals with mail.
All Post Offices should assist with passports and other general questions. Also ATM's should be located in all Post Offices that provide lower withdrawl fees. Also a photo machine could be installed at each post office for passport photos and those photos could be printed and electronically mailed to the Dept. of State.
Post Office should be more automated and have vending machines for stamps and money orders. The machines would also help track counterfeiters.
Eliminate saturday and friday deliveries and pickups.
Dedicate postal service resources to delivering important letters and documents. Get them out of the junk mail/ad delivery business. Have private companies deliver this (with a fee tacked on for recycling services, with the fee distributed to local communities for that purpose).
All Government entities and contractors paid with Government funds should be required to the use the U.S. Postal Service for express/overnight mail and package delivery. Requiring use of the U.S. Postal Service would increase revenue and keep Government funds in the Government's pocket rather than making FedEx investors rich.
The USPS would save a lot of money by only having mail delivery on Monday-Friday. I know alot of people forget about the mail being delivered on Saturdays so they don't check it until Monday anyways. Many people have gone to paying their bills online so the USPS is losing money. If they go to only delivering during the week they will see their revenue go up.
