Convert all residential and city mail delivery vehicles to prtopane. Refueling could be done at larger post offices. Cost savings would be seen in the first year even when taking vehicle conversion into account.
Suggest that the government use a post card to mail out first class letters and or notices with sensitive but unclassified information to the public. To save on postage cost for printing, purchasing envelopes, and the cost of postage.
Cut the Postal service to 4 days a week. Make eletronic billing standard for everyone that has a computer or smartphone (By text or emailing).
I think we need to take a few steps back and do mail the old fashion way. It would be acceptable and money saving to have postal boxes for neighborhoods much like they do with condos. This is much like the old town post office with boxes that you had to go to and get your mail. No more mail to the front door unless you are disabled.
This would save hundreds of thousands monthly on gas and walking time.
2nd I think it would be prudent in this day and age to combined the Postal Service with the Census and allow them to share information so we can have a more accurate census without spending so much money to have folks walk around doing so when we already... more »

Close post offices on Saturday...I never notice the mailbox on Saturday and the mail does not go out on Sunday anyway.
AS more post offices are closed, retailers will be tagged with selling stamps. Why create a vending machine that does this and allows people to file 1040 EZs? It would not be any harder than renting DVDs.
Eliminated the option for US mail delivery to homes. Instead, require the use of a PO Box in a central location, in the community, town, parish etc...where the individual lives. Requiring PO BOX the Postal Service could eliminate the need for delivery and cost associated with postal carriers delivery mail. To obtain mail, individuals would be required to have a PO BOX, either free of charge or at small fee.
