EITC

Many taxpayers take the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), but in my experience I see many taxpayers that are taking the credit illegally. Bogus preparers file returns generating this credit and the IRS is spending thousands in man hours during exam and collection to recoup fraudulant refunds. Many times these taxpayers cannot pay the balance due and end up going into Currently Uncollectible Status which doesn't require... more »

Freedom of Information Act Fees

The IRS implemented a new inventory system to process Freedom of Information Act requests, known as AFOIA. With AFOIA, IRS records are scanned into a central server to be reviewed and redacted by a case worker. The IRS has copy contractors to scan documents pertaining to open enforcement proceedings (ie, audits, collections)on to a CD so the records can be imported into our system. IRS normally charges requesters 20... more »

Free Payment of US taxes for taxpayers living in foreign countri

This can be accomplished by the relationships we now have with banks in other countries. Another way to do this is using the Electronic Federal Payment System but without charging a fee for wire transfers from the sending bank. The fee is either offset to the taxpayer or absorbed by the bank making it difficult to transfer money. The credit card system of payment that we use also charges a fee for the taxpayer. Taxpayers... more »

Yearly Survey

Change the yearly Survey to every three years. It's too diluted to do it every year. It seems like we just get finished with last year's survey and we need to do the next one, and everyone is tired of it.

Use Natural Gas on All Government Vehicles.

Total up the number of Vehicles the Government Owns, times one tank of Unleaded Gas a week @ $3.50 a galloon on average to make the numbers easy. Do the same calculation filling each vehicle with Natural Gas @ $1.25 a Gallon. Saving us $2.25 a Gallon. Even if we just convert the vehicles we already have, it would take approximately 8,000 miles to break even after the cost of installing a Natural Gas Coversion Kit.

REDUCE COST OF ENVELOPES FOR INTERNAL MAIL

All cases transfered from our department as well as some other areas have a Form 3210 attached. The acknowledgement copy is to be signed verifying receipt of case/documentation and mailed back to the originator. Proposing that these be acknowledged through email to originator to confirm receipt would save the minimium postage of $.44 per envelope mailed.

Teacher

I propose, we (United States)sell one quarter of our gold reserve to rid the national debt. This will generate a surplus. Balance the budget and slowly repurchase our original gold reserve back once we have a positive flow of income. If or when we sell one quarter of our gold, we will have more gold than anyother nation.

Time and Money

Smaller PODs with one or two persons waiting on the public and no receptionist have the public waiting sometimes for hours just to drop off a payment. Although this is not there intention, some taxpayers problems may take this long. Once through with this t/p the persons waiting are asked if anyone is there to drop off a payment. It would make sense to have a drop box in these locations for ease of the general public... more »
