Almost all federal employees have a landline telephone on their desk. Eliminate all but those essential for safety and security, and issue all employees an inexpensive cell phone. The savings in land lines, instruments, repair bills, and landline monthly charges would easily offset the cost of cell phones and their monthly charges,

There are literally thousands of websites, many of which are no longer maintained and/or used. I would recommend terminating websites that have been inactive for more than 18 months, either have not been updated or have not be used/viewed. Nothing happening here not already being accomplished on several hundred other channels.

Let the free market determine what can be broadcast on cable and terrestial radio. If private citizens want censorship, they can petition providers directly. We don't need federal agencies deciding what words can be said on cable TV.

My mother is elderly and relies on her terrestrial (land) line for emergencies. She does not want a cell phone. Three times this year her phone line has had problems. However for each outage, the Telecom provider would not respond for over 5 days. In one instance, even though the repair was scheduled on the 5th day, no one from the Telecom company showed up. We occasionally have mandatory training, most recently the Plaining Writing training, and it is clear that the material could be condensed to 1/2 day, instead of a full day, to save time and money.

sxsw.com - Check it out, every March there is a cool conference in Austin where web 2.0 staff can learn about gov 2.0, and listen to the music festival and watch some cool films.

We do not need to send federal staff to this event. They can learn about web 2.0 or gov 2.0 in other ways - but sending federal employees to these types of events where you learn a bit but really its all about the social media hype and the... more »
