Disincentivize continuing participation in income-based programs

People should be discouraged from staying on welfare or Section 8 or any other income-based program indefinitely. We don't have to kick them off the programs, but let's encourage them to seek employment that earns them more money. We can do so by requiring them to contribute an increasing percentage of their income to covering the costs of the program.

For example, currently all Section 8 participants pay 30% of their... more »

CANCEL and phase out Welfare and section 8 and food stamps and welfare benefits and low income housing for able bodied working age citizens. Welfare -Work for Funds

Save Billions and Billions. Establish Welfare as a Work for Funding type project. Hundreds of empty office spaces are available around the country that could be put to good use. Establish a administrator and minimal staff. The remaining portion of the staff and other WELFARE recipents would then work a set number of hours each month in order to get the full amount of their welfare. Section 8 and Welfare would work... more »

Responsible Pain Free step toward Social Security Solvency

Situation:
Under current rules when a person is approved for Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income benefits they are automatically scheduled for a medical review in 3, 5, or 7 years. As an agency we save $7 dollars for every $1 we spend completing such reviews. Even knowing this fact, these reviews are often the first thing deferred or eliminated when budget cuts are made allowing individuals with... more »

Free child care

This is similar to another welfare to work suggestion, but slightly different. Establish free child care centers (daycare) on a first come first serve basis for anyone regardless of income. Some people pay as much as $200 per week for daycare in the summer months especially. Trained and supervised welfare recipients could man the daycare. Work for minimum wage for the number of hours it takes to equal their monthly... more »

Transfer of Entitlement Programs to State Governments

The Federal Government needs to transfer responsibility of all entitlement programs over to state governments. Medicaid, welfare, Housing and Urban Development would be more efficiently and effectively run if it was operated and budgeted on the state level. State governments can better prioritize their regional needs. The Federal Government should involve itself to only in investigating fraud, waste and abuse by the... more »

Adopt IRS concepts to prevent welfare fraud

Supplemental Security Income and other needs based programs are based on the worthy public policy of ensuring that truly needy individuals have some of their basic needs taken care of and to have some dignity in their lives.

However, some people violate the spirit of the law while meeting the letter of the law in establishing their neediness. A large amount of money is lost to individuals who transfer all of their wealth... more »

Welfare

Make welfare what it was meant to be, a safety net, not a career path. 6 months is all you get, then find a church, mosque, synagogue, or athiest charity to help you. You don't get cash, just milk, bread, rice, corn, beans, OJ, cheese, and a few other staples. That's it. Live with your parents or a relative. No free cell phones, no housing projects that turn into gang zones, no debit cards, and you must be a US citizen.... more »

When on welfare have the people sign a contract.

It is not the governments responcibility to pay for children when people are having them when they are in a situation where they can not afford them in the first place. Have those who are on welfare sign a contract stating they will not have anymore children then what they have. And if they have kids while on welfare they lose the check they are getting and can not get welfare again.
