Turn off computer monitors at night.

Turn off computer monitors at night. Computer monitors can always be turned off at night. Computer upgrades can occur with monitor screens switched off. Leaving computer monitors on at all times is a huge waste of energy and dollars. It is completely unneccessary!! Let's save those dollars! Let's save that energy! It will also cut our greenhouse gas emissions!

Burning wood to save money and the environment.

In APHIS, there are several large programs that require destroying large quantities of wood to eliminate pest risks, like emerald ash borer and Asian longhorned beetle. I have two ideas:

1) Install wood-burning heaters at the APHIS facilities. Infested wood must be destroyed, at least this way we can offset some of the environmental impact and lower heating bills by using it as fuel.

Temperature control for environment

Mandate that all federal agencies and building to inlcude monuments set temperature of 67-68 degrees in the winter and 74-75 in the summer. The cost savings from this action alone will make a significant impact without any extra labor costs.

T-12 and incandescent lamps can be replaced to initiate cost savings quickly. Any of these lamps that remain should be replaced as soon as possible. Old products should be recycled.

The USA is a Republic. However, on Election Day the citizens of this country have to find time before or after work in order to exercise their right to vote. Building insulation greatly reduces space conditioning costs. Insulate outside walls, ceilings/roofs and other areas of building envelopes to reduce energy use and save money. Seal cracks to provide a complete insulation barrier.
