Expand PACT with therapists

The PACT idea is a great basis for veteran-centered care. However, it should be expanded to include therapists. Our facility is frequently sending patients to PT in the private sector due to travel distance for the veteran. Including a therapist on the team (whether full or part-time) would decrease this need and help incorporate the use of intervention/rehabilitation as opposed to depending on the long-term use of medication.... more »

Help Americans Get off Pain Killers and Get to Work

Thousands of Americans, and especially Native Americans, are addicted to narcotics. Many of them have chronic pain issues, many have addiction issues. It is far less expensive to give them rehabilitative Physical Therapy treatment and get them to work than it is to support their narcotic addiction and put them on disability. How about an idea that would save the VA hospital TONS of money annually in addition to providing quicker more convenient care to veterans. Physical Therapy (PT), without question, is a very effective means of addressing multiple medical issues that significantly impact the quality of life of today's veterans.
