Creat a secured version of the IPAD (or similar device) for employees that are mobile on their jobs. Facilities crews, Food Service workers, Doctors, Nurses, Landscapers, Architects, and Psychologists are just a few jobs that could utilize this technology. Preparing for meetings requires printing out any or every document that was sent electronically through email. The majority of these documents have double digit page numbers often including screen shots. Depending on the meeting size, those same documents have now been multiplied by the number of attendees. It has been announced that all Air Force linguists will be receiving iPads for their individual home studies related to their language(s). Previously, they were issued iPods to do the same. I can understand receiving a device that you can listen to linguistics, but to issue iPads at the super-high costs is an utter waste of DoD funds! Use a service such as Citrix or Good Technologies to provide a secure connection to Government networks for people to use their personal smart phones (iPhone), tablets (iPad) or laptops. Prohibit production of copies of presentations, testimony and other documents for federal meetings, such as NCVHS, HIT Policy or Standards committees and any other such federal meetings. These documents should be posted on Sharepoint sites (for example) for access prior to and during the meeting.
