Expand Paperless Program to All Offices

If the Paperless program used by processing centers was expanded, and made accessible by field offices, teleservice centers, and all employees, it would reduce duplicate materials, save on material and non-material resources (specifically time), expand accountability, and reduce miscommunication.

Our office is almost paperless, and the little paper we generate is taken to containers around the office for shredding, to protect personal information, and recycling. Yet, we still each have a trashcan in our office, and contract workers come around each day, during office hours, to empty each trashcan. This is unnecessary and may interrupt the work we do. Allow Citizens to Print Replacement Social Security Cards Online

Every year, the Social Security Administration processes, prints, and issues tens of millions of replacement Social Security Cards. This costs the government untold printing / postage costs and places an enormous burden on both service representatives and citizens to visit their local office for a replacement.

SSA BENEFIT LETTERS

As an employee of SSA we get alot of clients that call each day for benefit verification letters. My idea is that we make the benefit verification letters open to the public via the ssa.gov website. This would cut down on paper, mailings as well as calls to the 800# for this information. The public would be able to access this information theirselves and at there own time and cost.

Revamp Social Security Benefit Verification & Letter Process

One of the largest burdens on Social Security each year is creating "Benefit Verification Letters" for citizens. They are used to verify things like benefit enrollment for purposes of state program eligibility, proof of income for loans, and even birthdate! But due to the wide and undefined range of use, the agency will customize the letter to include whatever a citizen wants.
