Two Year Budget Cycle

This is nothing new. Instead of the typical one year budget cycle, I suggest a two year cycle. This would cut down on budget hearings and better stabilize longer-term planning and contracts.

AUTHORIZE OFFICE BUDGET CARRYOVER TO FOLLOW ON YEARS

EVERY YEAR IT IS COMMON PRACTICE TO SPEND DOWN ALLOCATED BUDGETS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE SAME OR MORE FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR. THIS CAN BE WASTEFUL BECAUSE THE PERCEPTIONS ARE THAT IF YOU DON'T USE IT, YOUR BUDGET WILL BE REDUCED THE NEXT YEAR. MOST OF THE TIME, THOSE REMAINING DOLLARS ARE SIMPLY BLOWN ON UNNECESSARY ITEMS, TRAINING AND NICE TO HAVE SUPPLIES WHICH COULD OTHERWISE FALL INTO THE WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE CATEGORY.... more »

TAX POLITICAL FINANCE COMMITTEES

POLITICAL CAMPAIGN FUNDS SHOULD BE TAXED LIKE ANY OTHER BUSINESS SO THAT POLITICIAN WOULD UNDERSTAND WHAT RUNNING A BUSINESS IS LIKE. WHAT A BURDEN PAYING TAXES IS ON A BUSINESS. HOW THE FIRST 25 OR 30% OF THE FUNDS RAISED IS NOT FOR THEIR USE BUT GOES TO THE GOVERNMENT. A TAX ON CAMPAIGN FUNDS WOULD BE A GREAT EDUCATIONAL TOOL FOR EVERY POLITICIAN AND POLITICAL WANT-A-BE.

Cash Flow and Budget

Stop the historical waste of monies not spent during the budget year. Stop protecting our image of not being able to budget properly and allow moneies to be returned rather than spent or wasted. We are often required to budget large sums of money for a specific lease or contract that for many reasons, does not get completed. Rather than return that money, we are required to spend it.
