Give Veterans the choice to receive notices via mail or email

When a Veteran applies for benefits, give them the option of receiving notices via email or "snail mail". This would save a ton of money in printing, mailing, and labor. If the Veteran wants a paper copy, he/she is perfectly capable of printing the email.

Automated work distribution system

Currently everything gets scanned into an electronic file cabinet after we work it. This should be done up front, when the mail comes in & then distributed to via an automated work distribution system (AWD). This would reduce lost in transit mail, make tracking mail & productivity easier & allow for a more even distribution of work. Release of Information through Secure Messaging

Now that secure messaging through My Healthevet is being used more widely. We have noticed veterans asking for copies of medical records via Secure messaging. When it is truly a release of information request, primary care staff will attach an ROI ( 10-5345a) to the outgoing secure message.
