LPN

I strongly feel nurses should NOT have access to veterans service connection status (as on their face page in cprs). I feel it creates a bias as many civilian nurses are not fully educated on what it truly means to be service connected. Knowing a veteran's sc percentage does not change the type of care we give. All too often I have heard fellow nurses bring this up and say things like, "he/she doesn't look sick" or "its... more »

Mandate Financial Education in Public Schools

Statistics show that most people have very little money in their savings. If they were to miss 1-2 paydays, the financial consequences could be dire. We need to teach school age children the importance of saving and investing in their future. This will prevent many bankruptcies and welfare benefits that many people have come to rely on.

Create ONE Veterans educational program

Eliminate the wasted resources used by having veterans bounce back and forth between Ch 30, Ch 31 and Ch 33. Creating one educational program that is for all veterans with a set amount of money and/or a grade requirement would save millions! Some people have been "going to school" for twenty years.

BIG savings from a Small town.

I have several ideas but here's just a few. Our printer alone prints out 30-50 pieces of paper per day that are either not ours or not significant. We have 450 printers in our VA medical center! Our printer alone is spewing off over 10,000 unused/unwanted copies per year, take that times 450 printers! We averaged the waist to be nearly $30,000 per year. Just for our small town facility. Can you imagine the waste? Also... more »

decrease or eliminate education travel

why do we send staff to "train the trainer" classes only to have them teach the class to staff at an offsite location in different cities? this is happening with most of the PACT training. 20-30 staff members are being sent with the "trainer" to cities that require several overnight stays, travel expense and per diem. Classes should either be conducted at the facility or at a location that does not require unnecessary... more »

Overhaul Veterans Disability System

The current disability system rewards Veterans for being disabled. The more disabled a Veteran is - the more money the Veteran gets.

The disability system should be based on rewarding Veterans for getting more ability. The disability system needs to work closer with the healthcare side - and ensure that recovery timelines are being met. If a Veteran doesn't make their appointment or doesn't follow their medical care... more »
