Revise Law to Eliminate Unneccessary Trials and their Expense

It is time we look at revising the laws to take into consideration forensic and other technology in determining a standard of "irrefutable guilt" in federal cases. Currently, even in cases where it is absolutely clear that an accused is guilty, the taxpayer still has to pay the considerable legal expenses of a trial so the accused can go through the sham of trying to prove they are innocent or more likely there was some... more »

Allow inmates to buy TV's/Pay for their Cable service

I work for the Burea of Prisons and believe inmates should have to purchase their own TV's and pay for their cable service. By having to purchase their own TV's the institutions commissary would be making more money by selling said TV's. The institution would then have to reroute cables to each cell which would cost money but by making the inmates pay for their cable service this would pay for itself over time and in... more »

Permit the use of IPADs to mobile workers.

Creat a secured version of the IPAD (or similar device) for employees that are mobile on their jobs. Facilities crews, Food Service workers, Doctors, Nurses, Landscapers, Architects, and Psychologists are just a few jobs that could utilize this technology. It will create less paper printing, better efficiency, better transfer of information, prevent loss of information, and provide a better speed of service delivery.... more »

Interviews via Teleconference for New Job Applicants

Allow new job applicants to interview via the internet through a webcam. Job interviews can be very expensive, not only for the applicant but also for the Federal Government. Utilizing a webcam can still provide interviewers with a face to face interaction. And, it would allow access to very qualified applicants from remote areas that would not be able to afford a plane flight.

Tele-Job Interviews

Allow applicants from anywhere to be able to interview from anywhere! Use the internet to connect interviewers and interviewees face to face with a simple webcam. This would allow for someone in Alaska to interview for a job in Washington DC. This would save travel costs and give us a wider applicant pool.

Workforce Managemnt & Furloughs

((Please read this entire suggestion.))

In order to accomodate sound fiscal management with a true and measurable cost savings to the government and taxpayers, while respecting our workers, I suggest that as benefit to the government, employees should be able to donate 16 hours of annual leave per year to the government in lieu of an unpaid 40 hour furlough (should furloughs become neccessary).

How would this benefit... more »

Power Surge Protectors for idle equipment

Even in sleep mode, computers and other electronic devices can use power unnecessarily. I recommend that we use power surges that shutdown idle equipment (e.g. computers and other electronic devices) during extended periods of nonuse. This would be a great way to save money and not impact operations.
