Automate the Design Change Notice (DCN) Process

Currently, to put a new part into the Navy Supply System we have to use a form called a Design Change Notice. Currently only Manual DCNs are accepted. This process currently requires the submission of a Word document which frequently gets returned by Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) WSS (Weapon Systems Support) due to transcription errors or incorrectly entered information. The time wasted filling out, re-filling... more »

Flights from Technical Training to First Duty Station

When I left tech school at Lackland, I tried to get a flight from Albany, NY my hometown to London Heathrow airport my first base RAF Mildenhall.
But the CTO office said I would only be allowed a government flight from San Antonio to London. I had to purchase a flight from Albany to San Antonio. Then fly on government funds from San Antonio to London. I lose fund, and government funds are lost. It would have been cheaper... more »

Restructure Civilian PCS Travel Payments

Currently the PCS Travel function for Civilians is extremely overtaxed. Most of the travel is paid for by the civilian itself (already taxed money) and reimbursed at a later date. This reimbursement has taxes withheld just like a regular paycheck. Then every year come March & April the DoD-DFAS Civilian PCS Travel Department must spend thousands of man hours processing a particular claim called the "RITA claim."... more »

I am overpaid -Cut Military Pay, or at least stop the pay raises

We could save MILLIONS just by cutting military officer pay 1-2%, and this is coming from a military officer.

I know this would never change because it would be political suicide, but military OFFICER pay is way too high. It is no longer a "sacrifice" to serve in the military, espeically since there are so many military jobs that rarely deploy. As 2 married military members, we make about $120K/yr. This is crazy!... more »

OHA to BAH System for OCONUS

All OHA needs to switch to the BAH system. This would drive the OCONUS housing market to be more competitive, with massive benefits to the Air Force, many benefits to the service members, and even, to a lesser degree, some benefits to the local community. Members have absolutely no incentive for saving the Government money under the OHA system.

Short term estimated savings in Guam alone: $45,000,000+ per year

Long term... more »

SAVE MILLIONS PER YEAR BY ELIMINATING WASTED BAH!

There are over 30K mil couples (one mil member married to another) on active duty in the USAF. Both spouses are receiving untaxed Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). One of the member’s is receiving BAH at the “single” rate (i.e. they have a spouse and/or child) rate, while the other is also receiving BAH at the “single” rate. This is obviously necessary, if they are stationed in separate locations. However, if they are... more »

Consolidate and Contract Military Recruiting

Conduct a survey to see if it is feasible to consolidate all military recruiting agencies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard) into one contracted agency. Currently, with each branch having its own recruiting service, there is an enormous duplication of effort. Having one civilian contractor be responsible for all military recruiting would greatly streamline the process. This would result in an enormous... more »

Country weather support why pay for duplication of effort

Currently the military and the NWS issue weather products (provide the same weather support services) to their users. The Air Force and Navy issues weather graphics for aviation weather forecasting and weather watches, weather warnings and advisories for tornadoes, severe hail, strong winds that the NWS issues for the general public. The Army gets its weather support from the Air Force and the Marines have their weather... more »

STOP THE INSANITY! Why Throw Away $$$ Billions???

Why does a completely tax exempt organization voluntarily throw away billions of dollars by paying taxes on travel? I travel a lot for the Navy and detest that taxes for TDY travel expenses are charged to my government credit card. Though the Government Treasury will get the taxes back, for the Navy and the Program Office (PMA), those funds are lost. Those lost and unrecoverable funds, which can quickly add up to billions,... more »
