Hire more FTEs (Government Employees)

Many contractos spend years on the same job and often the same contract or it's re-incarnation. Many ar Sub-contractors. The actual workers make the equivalent of government workers salaries but their cost to the government is far higher due to the contracting company profit margine and overhead. i.e. a contractor may be billed at $120/hr while actually earning $50/hr + benefits. Lawn Maintenance - Coasties not Contractors

I'm curious as to how much money we could have saved if we mowed our own grass at the various units I have been stationed in the past ten years. I've never seen any Coasties mowing grass, weed eating, etc. I understand that some contractors perform services we aren't able to but yard care?
