Less Energy to make paper out of new trees then to recycle.

I submitted this last year too.

 

Put recycle bins near the hand paper towel dispensers everywhere, including kitchens, work areas with sinks, and in the bathrooms.

Each field office and/or HUB office should assign or request a volunteer to oversee the recycling/re-purposing of manilla folders, legal binders, and accordion pocket folders. Many times I have retrieved folders from rubbish cans or "documents to be shredded" bins since they are typically in good shape and require pasting a new label over the old one or by peeling off an old label.

Tons of paper is needlessly tossed, and there is a better way than simply recycling it. Paper that is only used on one side can be re-used, by cutting into halves or quarters and stapling together into "notebooks". This not only saves the environment, but reduces the need for expensive post-it notes.

Cut back on paper use and waste to save money and help save earth's forests. By assigning a recycling program and program monitor to major government agencies, we can collect the used paper and spot trends in wasteful use of resources (i.e. paper). The monitor can see which specific departments are wasting the most paper and instill new policies to reduce such waste, such as requiring said departments to use their shop... more »
