Most desktops here at my office and six other office I provide I.T. services to have personal printers assigned to them when there is a network printer two cubes down. When adding up costs for toner and color cartridges across all agencies this amounts to an incredible amount of money. Costs associated:

1. Lump sum of printer cost ranging $50 to $500

2. Toner or printer cartridge cost ranging $45 to $150

Throughout the US there are Military Operating Areas (MOAs) and Military Training Routes (MTRs) which are used by military aircraft for training purposes. Within the borders of these airspaces are Noise Sensitive Areas (NSAs) which are designated blocks of airspace that the aircraft cannot fly over. Recently I came upon a green way to dispose trash that may help the federal government save money on tipping fees (hauling, disposal, and landfills costs), while helping to generate supplemental electricity and heat for its buildings. Replacing all DoD lighting fixtures with LED fixtures would reduce the energy consumption of all DoD facilities by over 80% immediately. The cost of each fixture is less than $40usd to replace the energy equivalent currently being used. With each individual office holding more than 10 fixtures, this would dramatically decrease all energy consumption to 1/30th saving the DoD millions per installation and assist with "green"... more »

LED Lights are more expensive than flourescent per piece, but the bulbs last just about forever, produce less heat and the light is easier on the eyes, so office workers are less fatigued by the end of the day.

Solar Roadways are quiet and clean (ideal for military bases, eliminates unsightly powerlines, ideal for charging electric cars, can be used in remote areas, much less pollution). Also, production would create lots of green jobs. This idea can also be applied to sidewalks, walkways, playgrounds, parking lots, etc... Willow Creek Port of Entry is a remote port of entry with a substantial amount of wind. My suggestion would be to build a wind turbine at the Port of Entry to subsidize the electricity output of the Port and also to show travellers that the government is committed to green technology

I have heard of a reactor that uses depleted uranium as a fuel source. It's called a Traveling wave reactor. This would be a good way to get rid of all that DU we have lying around. The down side is that the tech is currently still being researched according to the few pubs I took a look at. As such it is a long tem project which would be a good idea to start now (yes I DO know that we have a buget crises)
