Install LED ligts both inside buildings as well as for street lantern and traffic lights on larger facilities. Both energy savings and life cycle analysis costs savings are significant. It also allows for intelligent lighting systems which shot down when use is not required.

Save money on building security by co-locating agencies that provide direct public services such as SSA and INS. In this way, buildings without public services can use fewer security entrances. When members of the public need access to buildings, they can be on a temporary access list.

Require Contractor's to be responsible for the entire lifespan (as intended) of a facility. This means if a structural flaw or something that is missed is not caught within the first year that they still are responsible to fix it. Ceiling fans are an inexpensive way to help circulate air in buildings. They will significantly help reduce heating and cooling costs. Imagine how much money will be saved if all government buildings change their thermostat by one degree .. let alone two or three.
