Encourage using Optional Leave Without Pay
Government employees who accrue less amount of leave (such as 4 hours per pay period) would welcome an optional furlough during slow quiet season such as Christmas Holiday or Summer Vacation, to be able to take an optional leave without pay, as an option to be able to spend time with family. Unpaid National Federal Holidays (include Election Day)
Federal Employees appreciate the time-off we get from our national federal holidays, and we appreciate our country too.
As mentioned in a previous entry, Election Day should be a national federal holiday, but I suggest that all national federal holidays should be unpaid time-off.
