There are billions of dollars that were turned over to the 50 States by Banks, Employers, Insurance companies, Stock companies, etc. all belonging to millions of Americans who forgot they had this money. Match the Federal records (SSN's) of anyone receiving any Federal benefits (SSA, SSI, VA, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc.), against those of the 50 States holding this Unclaimed Property we could reunite people with billions...

Free child care
This is similar to another welfare to work suggestion, but slightly different. Establish free child care centers (daycare) on a first come first serve basis for anyone regardless of income. Some people pay as much as $200 per week for daycare in the summer months especially. Trained and supervised welfare recipients could man the daycare. Work for minimum wage for the number of hours it takes to equal their monthly...

Environmental Protection Agency
Market Maker
Each department of every governmental agency has an expenditure budget dedicated to office supplies/items/furniture. The EPA’s Region 9 spends around $50,000 per year on office items. That’s approximately $500,000 for just the EPA on office supplies. During our summer internship, we sighted one way that federal dollars could be used more efficiently, support American companies, and spur the green economy: by leveraging...

Give the Government a smaller more economical footprint
Why do so many agencies have to be on top of one another in DC, leasing large buildings at high fees? When leases come due, or possible early terminiation of leases, agencies should use desk sharing and telework and efficient space planning to take up less physical space. Why do all agency staff have to work in DC? Does every employee go to the Hill daily? I doubt it. Move agencies out from DC, decentralize - move...

Save trust fund while stimulating economy
Less than one half of one percent of people collecting disability ever get off it. The number one reason clients at Vocational Rehabilitation do not move on to work, is because there are no jobs. Corporations are not creating jobs because they can make more money investing excess funds than creating jobs. EVERYTHING a corporation spends money on is tax deductable.

getting back to the basics-cutting SSI for children
We as an agency, were created to supplement a family or an individual's income, when there is a loss in income due to death, retirement or a disability. Well I think we have gotten off track. Social Security pays disabled minor children Supplemental Security Income (SSI). My question is "what are we supplementing?" Children have never worked so why are we paying benefits as if they contributed to a loss of income...
