END OF YEAR SPENDING - ROLL OVER BUDGET

Similar to rollover budget and end of year spending.

Every year with about 2-3 months left in the fiscal year, not just my Field Office, but I'm sure every agency within the U.S. Government spends the rest of their budget, out of fear of not getting the same amount or more money the following year, and I'm sure as a way to justify asking for more funding. Courts, Convictions, Sentencing, and Prison

I once read a stat that said 62% of people in prison/jail have not been convicted.

I understand that a large portion of this probably also includes stat and local prisons/jails.

I also understand that there are varying circumstances with due process.

I also am aware there are many ideas for lowering Government costs related to prisons.

Plain and Simple

Specifically change the way the government spends money instead of just cutting funding. We should not be rushed at the end of the fiscal year to spend all our extra money so we get more next year. If your branch of the military saves money at the unit levels it should be savings for years to come for that unit. If any unit/branch/service get into the red it should come out of their funds the next year. Let’s just cut... more »
