Eliminate Waste, Fraud and Abuse in Medicare and Social Security

Many audits and investigations over the years have identified billions of dollars of waste and fraud in Medicare and Social Security. Mobilize the Lean/Six sigma Black Belts and other CPI professionals throughout the federal govt to eliminate root causes of fraud and waste in these programs in lieu of just talking about it all the time. Savings from fixiing these programs could fund improvements in education or orther... more »

Legislative Branch

Use assets to cover liabilities.

The federal government is bankrupt. The assets of the federal government should be used to cover its liabilities. All federal land from land management agencies within the Department of Agriculture and Department of Interior should be turned over to the states to fund the Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid liabilities. Have the states form a committee that will use the land and the income it creates to fund reorganized... more »

Social Security Reform

You know what you have to do to ensure Social Security will be able to continue.

First, STOP borrowing from it!

Second, make all wages subject to social security tax. I pay social security tax on all my income. Why shouldn't Bill Gates, or our senators, or even the President have to? Just because you're wealthy doesn't mean you should just be able to pay this tax on a small portion of your income.

Third, increase... more »

Saving on Social Security

The idea has to do with saving on Social Security: what if you took Social Security away from people who had income over a certain level in addition to social security and replaced it with a tax credit
equal to 50% of the amount these people would have have received net of their medicare payment. For example If someone was entitled to $2000/month less a medicare payment of $1500/year or $125/month, they would receive... more »

Raise Social Security Full Retirement Age

Increase the age of full retirement benefits -- gradually so it doesn't hurt those soon to retire -- as was done already. But raise the age further. the average life expectancy when SSA was enacted was a lot less than now; 70 or there abouts would be good. Keep exceptions for the ill, infirm, disabled, etc, but raise it for the rest.

ID - Why my SSN?

Why do you need my Social Security Number for everything and why should that serves as my unique identifier?! Invent a new id number for everyday use or allow me to be creative and make up my own. That way the SSN can be just used for financial purposes-if that was the original intention!!

SSN and credit history can be bed-mates but why drag my patient id and the student id into it?

Lately I have to provide my SSN:... more »

Disciplinary Actions Against Managers

Revise the No Fear Act

Managers are not being punished for their illegal actions. The No Fear Act needs revision. EEOC must have authority to impose discipline.

In September, 2010, EEOC Judge Macauley issued a decision in which he found that HUD retaliated against (Redacted) for a lawsuit based on disability discrimination. The Judge found that HUD had denied a promotion for (Redacted) that had been granted to every... more »

Suspend SSI Benefits When Wages Not Reported

SSI beneficiaires are currently required to report their gross wages for a given month within the first 6 days of the next month in order to ensure correct payment amounts in the following month. However, most SSI recipients and parents of receipients do not follow through with their reporting responsibilities and continue to receive the maximum benefits for many months. Criminalize sale of food stamps

There are various examples of individuals taking the food stamps and selling them at 1/2 the value (or less), in order for them to use the cash for other uses. There should also be an audit system to ensure people are spending this given resource properly. Currently there is no way to audit spending. I have been asked several times in Baltimore city grocery stores by people to buy food stamps, or they offer to pay for... more »

Social Security Benefits for incomes over 250k

Dependents and those under social security recieve social security benefits, even with household incomes over 250k. If social security for those over 250k was reduced further or eliminated it would save a lot of money. Supplying money to those who are able to save for retirement is not exactly the intent behind Social Security.

EEOC Claims

Many man hours are spent filing, investigating, and defending EEOC complaints. These can last for years. Most employees that have been effected want to be heard and not looking for a payout. They are often disregarded. The counselers dont help, they often list only half of the issues.
I myself went through this process and was never once offered a mediator. If there was a person that an employees could go to, such as... more »
