M-1 and J-1 Visas for "Students" - severly penalize the schools

Raise the price significanly for those applying for J-1 and M-1 Visas. A very high proportion of those who use those Visas to get into the country have absolutely no intention of ever leaving. We allow these schools to act as their "safe base" to get into the country. Once here some actually do go to school and then they are legally allowed to work. I have seen this happen time and time again. They come in - go to... more »

Colleges Should Charge In-State Tuition for GI Bill

I have to admit that recently my family was the subject of an unknown to us huge waste of government money. Since my wife and I are both veterans, our tuition is paid through the GI Bill. Since we don't receive the bill for our tution, we never knew we were being charged as out of state residents, even though we were both living in my home of record state.

It wasn't until my wife's GI Bill ran out that we said, hey,... more »

Reduce Printing

If government offices would take the time to stop and think about how much paper and ink they waste every day, they would be shocked. As an intern I go and make copies and file documents and the waste is so bad that I just want to take everyone on a fieldtrip back to my high school. We couldn't even print more than three pages a day even if we didn't have a computer at home and each extra sheet was 10 cents each. Color... more »

Eliminate Single-Service Schools

Most disciplines are similar/common to all services (finance, communications, etc...) yet the services each maintain their own schools to train their people. Consolidate these functions under the National Defense University and create a single DoD educational asset. Closing down redundant schools would save countless dollars and allow larger consolidated facilities to realize the economic savings of scale.

Over stocked supply rooms, Give to Education

I’ve noticed that supplies are often stocked and forgotten after its initial necessity. It’s time to clean out the supply rooms; file cabinets and office draws that are no longer in use.

As we go green, removing old file folders, binders, etc… these items can be re-used as well. Save the paper clips.

With the high demand among our public school systems for school supplies, let’s reallocated these items to the public... more »

Electronic Immunization Records for Travelers and School Kids

Ok, so we really need to develop an electronic Immunization Record for Travelers, perhaps this can be implemented on Passports as a international barcoding system. We also need something for children who are attending school. Paper records get lost and cost too much. Let's go green again and reduce the paper waste and increase revenue and get ourselves out of debt!

Smart on Education

With the amount of grants and loans the government gives to students we could stucture it better to pay for more individuals to complete college with less debt and a better outcome after graduation. Currently we are giving students loans and grants over and above their college cost. We should be paying directly to the school only for the amount of tuition, books, fees, and necessary materials. Currently we give students... more »

MAKE GYM CLASS MANDATORY for K-12 GRADE STUDENTS

If we instill in children the importance of being physically active at a young age they will be more likely to have a healthier life style in adult hood. This will save money in healthcare cost because there will be less medical problems due to weight problems.
