Make SAVE Award website more easy-to-use

The SAVE Award is a great idea; unfortunately, the website gets completely bogged down with the sheer number of ideas being submitted (many duplicative or simply impossible on their face). I'd suggest implementing some sort of moderation/oversight process so that certain ideas (i.e. "eliminate the Dept of Education" or "Eliminate the Dept of Veterans Affairs") are removed from the site. These ideas are too far-fetched... more »

EXOP - Office of Administration

Streamline SAVE Award

We all have lots of ideas to save money, but we end up with thousands of ideas being posted on SAVE, many of which are essentially the same. The search function doesn't even work all the time.

We need to have most ideas be "system posts" (no individual credit) that are broken down by basic popular ideas that people can contribute to (in small pieces) and then vote on each piece. That would make it easier for Administration... more »

Reduce paper costs by going to electronic databases

The cost of paper can be reduced by going to an electronic database. Currently we print and reprint a database for distribution several times a month. This takes away several man hours and uses a lot of paper. This can be reduced if we go to a computer read only file. Most of the places our database goes to have computer access anyway. If we were to go to a computer read only file on the share drive we could have several... more »

Pay the SAVE Award Winner a percentage of the savings...

Pay the winner of the SAVE Award contest a percentage of the savings that their idea generates in improving the quality of government output at lower costs or efficiency.

This financial incentive would launch the potentiality and the dynamic energy of the brain power of more than 2-million federal employees located around the world.

What should be the amount of the financial incentive for an individual winner or group... more »

Allow Employee Teams to Submit Ideas…

Allow Employee Teams to Submit Idea.

Similar to employees pooling their dollars to buy a lottery ticket, employees could unleash the potentiality and the dynamic energy of the brain power of a group to generate viable ideas to: improving the quality of output at lower costs, simplifying processes to reduce administrative burden, or improving the speed of government operations to improve efficiency.

SAVE AWARD implemented and administered at the Department level

Each department would be responsible for implementing an electronic “suggestion box” for their employees.

If employees can see and submit ideas online at their department web site throughout the year it would result in two positive developments: employees would contribute their ideas more often, and management of that department would less likely dismiss the suggestions of their employees.

Make SAVE Award Program On-Going Suggestion Program

Make the SAVE Award program an on-going continuous suggestion program Instead of having just a 2 week period for suggestions. It is doing a disservice to both the taxpayer and the employees to have just a two week period to submit suggestions. Should be able to do year round and perhaps have quarterly and annual winners.

SAVE AWARD PROCESS

Many of us in each agency have issues that many of our co-workers want to participate in and vote on. The only current method is to go to our agency and review all of the issues until they find the one they are looking for. My suggestion is to place at the top a drop down box like the one for the various agencies another COUPLE of drop down boxes. One that displays all of the Serial Numbers of the suggestions and one... more »

Save Awards - Reviewed By GAO Fraud, Waste, and Abuse

I've seen quite a number of recommendations that appear to be reports of fraud, waste, and abuse. These include everything from inappropriate use of government vehicles to abuse of governement hiring practices. The GAO should receive a summary, especially of heavily trended topics that would appear to be fraud, waste, or abuse cases.

Submitters should also consider this. If it's that bad, don't just wait until Save... more »
