Post Defense Reutilization and Surplus offerings online

Department of Defense and other agencies will have surplus items. Allowing other agencies to put in requests, and posting of items available online within, and to other USG agencies would allow disposal and reuse of items more readily. Items that are not disposed of that way could be offered for on-line auction, raising money for the USG and savings on the cost of disposal, transport, etc.

Reutilization of Office Furniture

I suggest, in order to create an immediate savings, that we cancel any government office furniture orders (which would not breach a contract) and halt any future orders.
As a member of the armed forces, I can personally attest to the necessity of having to 'scrounge' or reutilize older furniture. This frequently results in a somewhat mismatched, yet fully functional office. I can also attest to having seen good office... more »

Federal Freecycle for Federal Agency Administrators

Federal agencies should establish a “freecycle” like email listserv or website page in each region or metropolitan area to make available no-longer-needed items to other federal agencies that can use them. Agencies can circulate either “OFFERS” or “WANTS” to other agencies.

Freecycle is a concept that has found widespread acceptance throughout the country, and the same idea can be applied within the federal sector.... more »
