I know of many older individuals that collect social security, but don't really need the money and would actually opt out if givin the option. It's hard to say what the end result would be, but I can't see any harm in sending out an annaul letter allowing social security recipients to opt out if they choose to do so... Evaluate those on SS to see if they can work...

Some people getting a check can surely work. Maybe create programs that would produce something like a sheltered workshop for them to get there check or eliminate their check all together.

Just having people show up and learn for 2 hours a day would be something they could do. They could be educated on responsible spending, dietary needs, etc. The better they take care of themselves the better the less they would... more »

Allow Individualized "Federal" Investments

TSP – The investment options are extremely limited. Allow a percentage of total investments to go into “wildcat” accounts by employees. My personal investments (IRAs, other accounts) have beat all the TSP funds by 10:1 over the past 15 years. Conservative investing is good but allow us some leeway to be more aggressive. Reduce Social Security Disability Backlog and Save Millions

I am a currently a 34 yr old Social Security Claims Representative. I have also been a Program Analyst at SSA headquarters in Baltimore for two years and have a background in policy.
