Allow Permanant Part-Time Schedules for Career Employees

There should be an option for permanant career employees to work part-time. (Perhaps 4 out of 5 days a week.) The employee could pay out a little more in insurance, etc. but, would have a more family-friendly manageable schedule.

Many professional offices have Monday-Friday hours only. For some employees the higher cost of insurance, etc. may outweigh the burden of scheduling leave and juggling family responsibilities... more »

Include "Bottom-Up" Input into Manager and Supervisor Reviews

Include subordinate employees' ratings of supervisors and managers yearly reviews. Even if this accounts for %1 of %100, it will provide insight to that manager or supervisor's capabilities.

Do not provide "better" furniture to higher-level employees

Higher-level employees, managers, supervisore, SES folks do not NEED higher-quality furniture (real oak, etc.). Make them get the same standard furniture as all government employees. Of course, they may need different furniture, or more, depending on their position, but not better.

Stop spending time and money on the CFC program

Not everyone participates, and those who do, can donate in other ways, and on their own time - and get credit for themselves... not just let their government agency take credit for the donations.

Each year employees are taken away from their regular day jobs to "volunteer" (still getting paid) to plan bake sales and silent auctions.

When relocating "city" offices - send to cheaper "suburb" areas

There are many government offices close to each other in big cities. Move some of them to cheaper locations, for example move an office from the Washington DC area to Manassas where there is plenty of space, cheaper expenses, and is close to public transportation.

Make Private Representatives Accountable at the Hearing Level

When represenatives of claimants (at the hearing level) submit medical evidence within seven days of the hearing, those medical records must be sent to contracted medical experts scheduled to testify at the hearing by FedEx. The cost of the delivery of those last minute additions to the record to the Medical or Vocational Expert is absorbed by the Agency and also places unwarrented workload strains on an already tight... more »

Allow [Any] Leave Transfers Between [Any] Employees...

Allow any leave (sick, annual, lwop) to be transferred from one employee to another regardless of reason or relation.

Stop using manpower to determine whether someone qualifies for VLTP or not, just set up a log-in system where people that have leave to donate can offer leave to people who are in need of leave. People can enter their own names/requests, self-monitor their leave activity, and others can donate/give... more »

Save Computer Drive & Email Space with Expiration Dates

If there were automatic expiration dates on emails sent out by management/supervisors, etc., it would help clear virtual space on the computer email and drives, thus maintaining a lower memory/storage and speeding up the computer's applications.

Many agencies have a time-retention timeframe requirement for people holding onto Personally identifiable information contained in emails and old work.

This would also lighten... more »

consolidation for offices and workloads

If you combine the ODAR, DDS and FO agencies as one agency; Have persons working and doing work that is their strengths not their weaknesses. I have worked in the field office and ODAR; repetition produces quality and quanitity; If you do the same items over and over you are very quick when repeating the work, My idea is to have one building for Odar, Field Office, DDS, They would be called SSA; You put all three offices... more »

Full Time Telework

Although Ful Time Telework won't work for everyont, I do think that there are some 25 - 50% of most Agencies that could perfom their functions from an alternative worksite. Many managers are uncomfortable with this but it would be a matter of changing their style of managing. Instead of "stopping by" a persons desk, they could call or send emails to ask the quick question or provide an assignment.

In many ways,... more »
