The federal government is bankrupt. The assets of the federal government should be used to cover its liabilities. All federal land from land management agencies within the Department of Agriculture and Department of Interior should be turned over to the states to fund the Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid liabilities. Use Volunteers for National Park Service

Use volunteers for the NPS. Following the lead of state governments that are strapped for cash , many are using a volunteer base to clean, maintain, guide, and take fees from visitors, while allowing the park ranger to be the ultimate manager in charge. In exchange for cleaning, toll taking, and maintenance, volunteers could live at campsites to provide these services for our National Parks.

Digitized & Downloadable Federal Park Maps

The National Park Service currently pays millions of dollars to print park maps for visitors. Ironically, they just fall apart after being used. They are also cumbersome to keep safely stored and away from the weather. My suggestion is for the National Park Service to offer visitors the option of downloading park maps onto their phones/pc in advance of their trip, or when they enter the park. Change how National Park Service is funded to save money.

Currently, Congress funds each national park individually in a line item in the NPS budget. Park budgets go up, but never down - even if visitation drops or other changes occur. This is different from other land management agencies where the funds are centralized and the Bureau decides how to fund each national forest, national wildlife refuge, etc.
