SAVE award, HBPC

As a homecare RN I have seen an abundance of waste on all sides of the spectrum from Govt, patient, and so on. The biggest way I think the government can SAVE is to revamp and reteach physicians, patients, nurses, pharmacists on medication ordering. As it is now in our system anyways:: Everytime a doctor updates a medication whether its a renewal, dosage change, etc the pharmacy automatically sends new medications. Now... more »

Patient Services Assistant (PSA)

Please, please, please, make the medication orders in CPRS stop printing. Every day, thousands of medications are being written by doctors, and every one of them prints, on a separate page! I've previously been told that it's either all or nothing, meaning all orders have to print or nothing prints. There is a purpose for the doctor's text orders, however, no one, absolutely no one, looks at the printed medication... more »

Voucher for Iinsulin at Local Pharmacy

I believe that we should issue vouchers to veterans for insulin (limited to how many bottles we would mail them) that could be redeemed at a local pharmacy for pick-up. I live in a state that is very hot during the summer and I see so many insulin (15-22 bottles at a time) thrown away because it has gotten hot during delivery. We have tried mailing them on certain days, mailing them with coldpacks, and using fed-ex instead... more »
