Alternate Work Schedule & Telework Mandate

With roughly two million federal civilian employees, of which 15% (~300,000+) work in the Washington DC Metro area, demand put on the daily infrastructure (I-66, I-95, etc) is substantial. Currently, most personnel would work a normal 40 hour work week (5 days x 8 hours). NIH provides excellent training opportunities for vast and diverse set of nationals. These significant number of intramural trainees move in near vicinity of NIH to commute back and forth. Most of them would be around for 2 to 5 years least and move ahead with their career plans. Depending on choice, trainees prefer to look out for moving sales to setup their apartments. Convert to a 9 hour 4 day work week

Have all Federal, state and local agencies including schools should convert to a 9 hour, four day work week and everyone has Friday’s off. This benefits, the environment, the worker and the government. It worked in Utah.
Reasons:
everyone will conserve oil on transportation to& from work and on government vehicles,
less traffic and potential accidents,
road and vehicle maintenance would be reduced,
