SAVE Award 2011 Ideas

Most recently I thought I heard that a law was passed and implemented stating that the Internal Revenue Tax Laws must be clear. I suggest that LAWS especially those such as FMLA be precisely interpreted so that agencies can not intentionally missinterpret these laws to harm already sick employees.

I work with Federal laws and regulations every day. I find that many are created solely to serve a social purpose. (For example, a set of federal laws require that the USDA give grants to universities to perform agricultural research, even though much of the research is redundant or unnecessary. Likewise, Federal agencies must give certain vendors preference in purchasing, even if they charge more than larger entities.)... more »

Everyone's attention is focused on "fixing the Tax Code". However, I believe that many Federal laws and regulations are so illogical or enacted for strictly political purposes that merely complying with them either adds unnecessarily to our deficit or hamstrings agencies' efforts save a meaningful amount of money. No more exceptions. Congress should pass legislation that prevents them from passing any law that does not apply to themselves. They should not have special treatment on medical, retirement, or anything that the citizens of this country do not also have or are prevented from having. If they fail to pass a budget in 90 days, they will not collect retirement, and will be subject to recall.

Right now in the US we all are taxed based on our income. As we can see this does not work because half the people who pay into taxes get refunds and end up paying nothing in, and those who are at the top of the ladder end up having so many deductions they can do they end up paying nothing as well. Not forgetting there are also people who just do not report taxes at all. I ask that we change or tax code up from one... more »

Right now the biggest thing that comes to my mind is Nancy Pelosi and the multi million dollar jet she had the government pay to get her so she could fly nonstop from her home state to DC, with her, her crew, and 200 reporters. Seriously, why is the government paying to transport reporters? Everytime her aircraft flys in any direction it costs the taxpayers 60,000 dollars. When the Obamacare package came up and I heard it was 2500 pages long, it made me wonder how long a bill can really be. So I started reading some of it, and quite frankly I was rather upset. Many many portions of the bill had nothing to do with healthcare, but rather it gave money to states for other things. Change the LAW. It is my understanding that the FED pays to return packages sent to inmates if it contains items that are not authorized. I am confident inmates are informed of what is allowable and that should be sufficient. I say change the law. Inmate pagages with items that are not allowable, Give to Homeless Shelter, Place in FED AUCTION, or THROW AWAY. Do not notify the sender or return it to them. Little or... more »
