Axe the fax! Federal agencies have the ability to send and receive scanned documents via email through secure systems. Eliminate the use of the fax machine across the Federal Government! Doing so will erase all fax machine purchases and repair costs and reduce the amount agencies spend on toner, telephone lines, and long distance calls. Imagine the savings!

Convert the Forrestal garage into offices to add one entire floor to the North Forrestal building, Conversion demonstrates that the Secretary is serious about getting DOE employees out of cars and into public transportation. Conversion would allow many of the DOE L'Enfant Plaza Occupannts to return to the HQ building, Save fuel, save rent money, more effective operations with co-located emloyees.
As the Telework program expands, the government is not reducing the number of square feet it needs for office space. Teleworkers are teleworking an average of 2 to 3 days a week which leaves a large percentage of office space unoccupied and air conditioned, heated, and lighted. Infrastructure should be reduced; no more building should occur and work cubicles could be shared by employees on alternating days.

All they would have to do is either slide their VA identification card through a slot or enter their patient information and the computer would confirm their appointment date and time and they can click a button to check-in. This would be similar to the idea of checking yourself in for your flight at the airport.... more »
