Stop requiring agencies to use GSA-owned vehicles

In the past we purchased our own vehicles and held on to them for a longer duration than GSA allows. GSA gives us about 70,000 miles or 5 years for certain vehicles. $50/day x 250 work days (approx.) x 5 years = $62,500. Granted that pays for all routine maintenance and upkeep, and unfortunately for the taxpayer, GSA salaries. I'm sure we could buy the exact same vehicle for much less, and use the rest for funds for... more »

Capture monthly vehicle mileage without using employee resources

We are required to submit vehicle mileages for all GSA vehicles on a monthly basis. In our office of approximately 80 employees, we currently have 26 GSA vehicles. The Vehicles are usually in the field when the email request to retrieve mileages goes out.
It seems like there should be a way to capture the mileage without involving so many employees because whenever fuel is purchased using the fleet credit card, the odometer... more »

Audit GSA

Annually, GSA costs us money. They control when we renew our lease and they write the lease. In some cases they are also paid the rent agreed upon in the lease. This is circular and quite costly. The same is true for GSA vehicles. They charge us and decide when we have to return the vehicle. Then the process of returning the vehicle costs us both time and money- some of that money is paid to GSA. Why do they exist? I... more »

GSA VEHICLES VS POV VEHICLES

Why are federal employees required to use a GSA leased vehicle when he/she may be willing to use a POV. Reimburse the POV employee at the current .51 cents per mile as in private industry. The only reason I can see that this would not be an option is that the current policy in place is a means only to financially support GSA and the auto industry. This is in my opinnion wasteful spending when employees would prefer to... more »

GSA Fleet Vehicles

We have a number of GSA fleet vehicles that are gas guzzlers. Now that hybrid and natural gas technology are available with a number of American car dealerships, I would like to recommend that all government agencies with fleet vehicles upgrade to more environmentally friendly vehicles when the contracts are up. This way, we help to save gas usage (saving the American taxpayers money), as well as helping the environment.... more »

Going Green in style while helping others

-All vehicles to be energy efficient such as the Ford Fusion which would allow for less gas spent.

-Recycling should be done of cardboard, glass, aluminum. The funds should be put back into rewards for employees pushing for ways to save money in the form of monetary or days off.

-paper should be shredded, but recycled to be used in other ways.

-More solar panels, wind turbines and overall power saving devices.... more »

GSA Fleet Vehicles

The accounting and replacement cycles are skewed with the end users operation cycles which is problimatic for accounting personel, operations personnel and construction projects..
The 'S' in GSA should return back to meaning SERVICES and work with the agencies it provides to not the other way around. It causes dificulties with operations that must deal with confining winter weather conditions and differing operational... more »
